Joachim Ziegler is recorded as its commander; no portrait of him has cleared the rights bar, so there is no photograph to show. The mark beside it is drawn from the entity record — side and echelon — and is not a photograph of anything.

Command changed hands during the battle. Ziegler had held the division since July 1944 and commanded it for the first ten days of the fighting; the divisional command list gives 26 April 1945 as the date Krukenberg replaced him, though accounts that follow Krukenberg’s arrival in Berlin put it a day earlier. Ziegler was killed on 2 May.
