For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions , which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme . Berlin, Nikolaikirche, Ruine, Trümmer Aufn.: Illus Kümpfel 25.1.1951 Buntmetalldiebe als Leichenfledderer. In der Nicolaikirche, einem historischen Bauwerk des alten Berlin, befinden sich viele künstlerisch bedeutsame Grabkapellen und Epitophe. Mitte Januar 1951 wurde entdeckt, dass Buntmetalldiebe in den Grabkammern ihr Unwesen getrieben und zahlreiche Särge geplündert hatten. Zinksärge, Schmuck usw. wurden gestohlen. Es handelt sich meist um hier bestattete Ratsherren und Kaufleute aus dem 16.Jahrhundert. UBz: Vor der Nicolaikirche, die im Zweiten Weltkrieg zerstört wurde, liegen noch Trümmer.
